Mandate
The Office for Interception Centres has the legal authority to intercept
certain types of communication and to monitor certain signals and radio
frequency spectrum throughout South Africa as specified in the
interception Act 70 of 2002.
The OIC is also responsible for ensuring that all interception centres within
the country operate within the law and comply with national and
international interception and security standards.
